Top Ten Cracked Iphone Games

We've all spend enormous amounts of time searching though list after list of apps.  There are a lot cracked app stores and sources to choose from.  We've run into a few apps we feel are a must-have for your Iphone's gaming section.  All of these apps were retrieved through Appcake and downloaded directly to the Iphone without aid of a computer.

10.   Star Wars Academy -  Cool game.  Its the multi-player Call of Duty meets Star Wars.  Players get to run though levels blasting at each other with a beam gun.  Work well with wifi, slight glitch here amd there, but it's always fun knowing there really someone in that white stormtropper suit getting shot.

9.   Hero Wars-  A defense style game with quite a variety of characters.  If you like Cartoon Wars, then this is a no-brainer.  I've wasted many a day trying to see what my cool toons do with every upgrade, from driving a Batmobile or shooting out fatal hearts (?).

8.  Global Runner-  A side scrolling jumper.  As the name suggests, you play a lovable hamster and take on the task of running non-stop around the globe.   It's quite interesting to see the landmarks that smoothly change in the background as your score keeps going up.

7.  World Series Poker Hold 'Em-  Poker.  Play against the computer, make a career, or play against others worldwide. Heck, play anyone else with an Iphone in bluetoothing distance.  The download is pretty large so try to get it from HotFile.

6.  Sonic Spinball-  The days of retro are here! This is the actual Sonic Spinball from Genesis in the 90's with touch controls.  It's actually pretty responsive, so this is a pleasure to play.

5.  Sonic 4-  Sonic 4?  That's what I thought when I first saw it, but there it was...Sonic 4.  I dont want to ruin it so I'll tell you this.  It's Sonic, it's new, and it works.  Download it.

4.  Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3-  Maybe my list is a little retro, but in this case I can't help it.  Mortal Kombat 3 is on the Iphone and available at AppCake.  It still has Sub-Zero, and has the buttons  configured do your special moves and still be ready for the FINISH HIM! at end.  Wow.

3.  Need for Speed Hot Pursuit-   Im a fan of the Need for Speed on the console, so their's no exception here.  With the motion sensitive controls, this almost beats real driving.

2.  Samurai2-  It Afro-Samurai...almost.  Darn good tho, slice and dice swarms of Japanese (I think) henchman while taking off limbs in the process.  Lots of blood and gore to splash on the screen.

1.  Astroboy-  There's no way Astroboy is better that Mortal Kombat, so this list is not by number.  But it's Astroboy, for goodness sake.  He has a laser cannon on his arm and what look like a machine gun shooting out his ass.  That's gotta be awesome somewhere.

Managing Music without Itunes for Free

This used to be a HUGE issue when it comes to music on the Iphone/Ipod.  Itunes seems to always want to completely erase your library to add anything new.  To top it off, it doesn't seem to work well unless you are on the same computer.  Well after much research, it looks like CopyTrans Manager is the solution we are all looking for.  Download the program to your computer and sync your Ipod/Iphone.  The interface is pretty simple and straight-forward.   It will allow you to add or delete music from your device, as well as re-name songs and edit other information if necessary.  It's a must have if you are like me and spend a lot of time switching out songs.    As you can see from the screenshot above, it looks a lot like Itunes.  I've had a good amount of luck with the picture/video manager as it has helped me get rid of videos not seen it the DCIM.  Good Stuff.  The idea of this blog is to find solutions for your device that are FREE.  And this certainly qualifies.

INTRODUCTION

Hi, My name is Mike Brown.  As you have probably guessed, I own an Iphone and I love it.  When I first got this niftty device, I was just like everyone else. I was spending $30 + just checking out apps, some of them weren't much good anyway. But the Apple Store won't give us any refunds, in fact I don't even think there is such a policy in motion.  Then I met a good friend of mine who had an Iphone as well. He was watching NBA Live on his phone for free!  Needless to say more, I had to find what he was doing.  And just like that, my eyes were opened up to the world of jailbreaking.  Not only could I do a whole lot more stuff on my Iphone, but I was doing a whole lot of it for FREE

That's fun and cool and all, but not the purpose of this blog.  As I ventured into many websites delving in on the subject, I found a lot of the information to be outdated and spread out in many places.  This has resulted in me scouring  over tons of websites for what should be easily accessible information. To be quite honest with you, I'm sick of the hunt.  So I created this blog to keep all of this new info and tools all in one place. It's gonna take me a while to get enough posts to even close to cover all the information we all want to know, but we've got to start somewhere.  This blog is to tell you how to jailbreak your device, tips on upkeep, and various potholes I have stepped in along the way.  If I've already gone through it already, there's no need for you to do so.

Now there is absolutely no way I can get EVERTHING in here, so everyone's help is very much appreciated.  Any helpful links, new information, updates, all are welcome.  I don't profess to be smart by any means.   I can only drive the car, I'm no mechanic.  The smart guys are the ones who actually put together these debian packages.  I am in complete awe of them.  But you are privy to any knowledge I have and are always welcome to ask me any questions at all.   If I don't already know the answer, I'll be more than happy to go to the ends of the earth to find out for you.   I'd like to thank you all for checking out my blog and really hope that it's a help to you in your jailbreaking experience-

Jailbreak your Ipod

Well, if you are reading this, you probably have gotten yourself one of those cool Iphones.  Thanks to Apple finally giving in, we can now have this awesome phone with a Verizon call plan. That means a lot more of us can finally join in on the fun. So you picked one up from the store, but you really want to know what your new piece of wizardry can do.  Put simply you want more (and cooler) apps.  You've probably heard a few people say they have their Iphone jailbroken and tell you about all the cool things they can do with their phone now.

What is jailbreak?

Well put simply, jailbreaking your Iphone means you get to add a third-party installer called Cydia to your home screen.  Through this wondrous app, you can download all sorts of other apps, themes, and settings not normally available to you. Best of all, a lot of them are free!  This also gives you a great avenue to try some apps before you spend your precious dollars in the App Store.  A lot of developers test their apps here to see how many of you are going to download and try it, so dont feel bad for doing so. We could get into a lot more, but lets keep it simple for the purposes of this blog.

Is this harmful to my Iphone/Ipod?

For all normal extents and purposes, no.  I started with an Ipod and have jailbroken quite a few Apple Ipod and Iphones since.  The worst thing thats going to happen to you (dont quote me on this!), you'll lose your entire memory and you'll have to get those precious songs, photos and jailbroken apps all over again.  While this does suck, if this makes your stomach cringe you may be going into the wrong arena here.  Its always a good practice to back-up your Ipod/Iphone before attempting any of the steps listed here.

Is this legal?

Thanks to new developments, it is now.  We may never know how they quite pulled that off. But that's good news for us, so start to hacking your device without feeling bad.

Jailbreak your Iphone/Ipod:

Things you'll need:

1.  An Apple Iphone/Ipod 2g 3g or 4g
2.  Wireless Internet and
possibly
3.  A computer (Windows or Mac)
4.  Some gumption.

I always suggest jailbreaking your device the moment you get it out the box.  That way, if something does mess up or you do find yourself bricking your Ipod, you haven't loss anything quite yet (except a little bit of time).  For your older Ipod/Iphones (3g or older) the jailbreak process is quit simple. Open your browser on your device and navigate to http://jailbreakme.com.  If you haven't hooked up to Itunes and upgraded to 4.2 firmware, you should be able to slide the bar and Voila!, your done.  Don't worry if your device can't handle it, it will tell you so in advance.  No harm done.

But you have the new Iphone 4 or you've upgraded lately and you're getting the "Your Device is too New" error?  Well don't fret.  It's a little bit more complicated but not hard at all to get your device jailbroken.  First, you want to download a tool called RedSnow to your computer.  This program will allow you to replace the current 4.2 firmware you have with a previous one and will automatically add Cydia to your homescreen.  Once you have downloaded the program, it will ask you to connect your device and place it into DFU mode(it comes with instructions on how to do this) and it pretty much picks it up from there.  However you will need to download a lower version firmware for the RedSnow to pick up.  You can download it from here. Use Itunes (press control and click the Restore button...this will only work in DFU mode) to get your 4.0 firmware into your ipod.  You can't go any lower than that because Itunes will not allow it to be "pushed" into your device.

Another option that is well worth trying is a program called  GreenPois0n.  Pretty straight forward.  Download this program to your computer, hook up your Iphone/Ipod, and it will ask you to place your phone into DFU ode, and it will pick up from there.  You will need to find a lower firmware   .IPSW  file to download.  The idea is this; since you can't break the 4.2 firmware yet (as of this date) use Itunes to push a lower (4.1 or lower) firmware into your Iphone that can be broken.  Here go some other great places to find information I have found to be extremely  on the subject and get you well on your way.
